Five reasons to get more ginger in your diet

The words ‘super’ and ‘food’ get bandied around a lot. Like A LOT a lot and sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between a fad and the real deal.

When it comes to superfood superhero status, ginger really is the OG. It’s one radical rhizome that has truly stood the test of time for hundreds if not thousands of years in traditional and herbal medicine.

Here at Remedy, we’re huge fans of ginger where it is a key ingredient in some of our fan favourites including our Remedy Kombucha Ginger Lemon, Remedy Kombucha Ginger Berry and ALL of our Remedy Switchel flavours! 1. It’s anti-inflammatory and full of antioxidants

The main reason ginger is so g-damn great is that it is anti-inflammatory and full of antioxidants. We’re HUUUGE fans of antioxidants here at Remedy (our drinks are full of them).  So why do we keep banging on about them? Inflammation is your body’s natural response to injury or illness but too much can be associated with disease and ill health (BOOOOO). By incorporating more antioxidant rich foods into your diet you’re giving yourself a fighting chance against inflammation. Here’s the good news - ginger is one of the BEST foods you can choose to fight inflammation with its gingerol compound responsible for much of its medicinal properties. No excuses needed to smash a few Switchels – aim for at least one a day we say!

2. It’s belly soothing

An oldie but a goodie - ginger is well known for its calming effect on your gut. Fantastic for those of us who aren’t great travelers, make sure you grab one when you’re on the go whether that’s in a plane, train or automobile. HOT TIP: Ginger is also great if you’re preggers and feeling the not so rad effects of morning/afternoon/all day sickness as it curbs nausea, relieves discomfort and (dare we say it) GAS! 3. It’s a ripper for post gym recovery

Ginger’s great anti-inflammatory properties extend to your muscular system. If you’ve literally busted your gut in the gym and your muscles are feeling a little sore, grab a Remedy Kombucha Ginger Lemon or Remedy Kombucha Ginger Berry to not only rehydrate but help ease that muscle pain. 

4. Colds and flu begone!

With anti-fungal and anti-microbial properties that can help fight infection,  ginger is a great natural option to support your immunity during the colder months.
