Why we're partnering with  Movember

At Remedy, we know looking after our mental health is more important than ever. Despite this not being a topic many of us are open to talking about, mental illness in Australia is very prevalent - with one in seven Australian men experiencing depression or anxiety or both in any year.

Struggles with mental health have only been exacerbated since the outbreak of COVID-19, where 25% of men globally reported their mental health had worsened during the pandemic, yet only 16% had spoken to a Health Care Provider about their mental health.

Unfortunately, in Australia, men account for three out of every four suicides, and over six men die by suicide every day- it is the leading cause of premature death for men. Men who died by suicide had a median age at death of 44, which we can all agree is far too young.

We know it can be hard to take that first step to admit you’re not OK, but it’s crucial to gaining the wealth of support friends, families, and experts can provide. We want to help make that first step easier by encouraging everyone to go beyond the banter and open up with a Remedy and start a meaningful conversation with their best mate, family, or colleague at any time of year. If you're unsure how to navigate these conversations, Movember has a great digital tool available. Movember Conversations teaches you how to start and guide a conversation with someone going through a rough time. Through Movember Conversations, you’ll learn to ask questions that matter, how to help someone open up, and how to be a better listener. You can find out more here.

The team at Movember are looking out for people and creating real, lasting change within our communities, and by partnering with them, we believe we can help change the face of men’s health.
