We knew Sodaly Watermelon would be a hit. As you know, we've been in the drinks biz for quite a while now, so we get a feeling in our waters when a flave is going to pop off.
We had that feeling for Sodaly Watermelon, but our Remedy Lovers smashed our expectations outta the park with just how MUCH you love this fruity flave.
So, to celebrate the news that it has become a permanent flave (hoorah!), we thought it'd be a good time to tell you everything there is to know about Sodaly Watermelon. Let's deep dive!
Sodaly Watermelon origin story
You might remember a little known flave of Remedy Kombucha called Watermelon & Mint. It was one of our most requested flavours for yonks. Truly. Remedy Lovers everywhere begged for us to brew a watermelon-flavoured booch.
So we did. And, in our humble opinion, it was pretty darn delish.
But we wondered if this kind of flavour profile might be a little more suited to Sodaly. As we all know, there's a decent difference between Sodaly and Kombucha, and some flaves just tend to blend better with an ACV base.
Enter: Sodaly Watermelon.
If summer had a signature flavour, this would be it. It takes you back to summers past filled with backyard BBQs, endless beach days and the unmistakable taste of fresh, juicy watermelon on a scorching hot day. Lightly sweet, crisp and perfectly refreshing, it's everything you love about summer in each sip.
Natural colours and flavours
All Remedy bevs are made from 100% natural ingredients, and this fruity fave is no different.
For the mouthwatering watermelon flavour, our Flavour Wizards tried and tested a bucketload of different watermelon extracts to find the most true-to-fruit flave.
And for that ultra watermelon-y, pale pink colouring, we use black carrot extract. Now, we know what you're thinking. Black carrot extract surely turns bevs black or carrot-orange. No sir-ee. It actually provides a peach/strawberry hue due to its anthocyanin pigments. Pretty cool stuff, right?
Sodaly Watermelon Crush Mocktail
Sodaly Watermelon is a banger of a bev on it's own, but sometimes, it's fun to jazz it up and craft it into a mocktail. Treat yourself, as they say in the classics.
(The classics being Parks & Rec. Obviously.)
INGREDIENTS
1 cup of watermelon, cubed
30ml lime juice
A sprig of fresh mint
1 handful of ice
1 250ml can of Sodaly Watermelon
METHOD
Place watermelon and lime juice into a cocktail shaker. Muddle to extract all the good juices from the watermelon.
Clap mint together a few times to get all the goodness (aka oils) from the mint. When you do this, take a second to bask in just how good it smells.
Add ice to the cocktail shaker and give it a good ol' shake-shake-shake.
Strain the watermelon mixture into a tall glass, filled with ice.
Top up with Sodaly Watermelon, garnish with a slice of lime and enjoy!
