If you’re already a kombucha lover, well, you probably wouldn’t be here right now! But in case our booch lovers are reading this for the lols, you’d know exactly what kombucha tastes like.
But if you haven’t dabbled in the wonderful world of fermented tea just yet, we’d bet the biggest thing stopping you from taking it for a spin is taste.
You think it’s gonna taste weird.
You think it’ll taste like kimchi or sauerkraut or any of those other fermented things that you might not be a huge fan of.
Or you just don’t know what to think, which is enough of a turn off on its own.
So, we’re giving you the DL on what kombucha actually tastes like, so you can decide for yourself whether you want to dip your toe in. Or dive headfirst into a pool of kombucha.
What is kombucha?
Kombucha is fermented tea.
Could you imagine if we just left it there? HA! We’d never do that to you. Let us explain it a bit more.
The old-school way of making kombucha, which we follow at Remedy, involves a natural fermentation of sweet tea with a live culture. This live culture is known as SCOBY, which is a whole other deep dive in itself.
When you mix all this together and brew it for thirty days in a pretty warm room, you get a sparkling drink that contains the goodness of live cultures, tea polyphenols and organic acids.
Better yet, it (can be) darn delicious!
What does kombucha taste like?
A classic kombucha is fizzy and a little bit tart. It has a similar vibe to sparkling apple cider but without the overly sugary sweetness you get from fermented apples.
But not all kombuchas are created equal.
All booch heads craft their brews a little differently, so you’ll get varying degrees of fizz and tart and/or sour notes.
It also depends on what flavour the kombucha is.
Nowadays, most kombucha is blended with a range of flavours to balance the tart flavours with a sweet, more mainstream flavour profile.
Let’s look at Remedy Kombucha as an example.
We have 15+ flaves of kombucha getting around, ranging from our sweet superstars Wild Berry and Mango Passion, to our more crisp, tart flaves of Ginger Lemon and Pink Grapefruit.
Every flave of Remedy Kombucha is made with 100% natural ingredients, meaning even our flavours come right from nature. This means we can take our booch flaves to the next level without sacrificing the original goodness of kombucha.
What kombucha flavours are the best?
It depends on what kind of tastebuds we’re workin’ with!
If you’re a new booch drinker who tends to like the sweeter things in life, Wild Berry or Raspberry Lemonade would be the go.
If the traditional soft drink kinds of flaves tickle your tastebuds, an Orange Squeeze or Passionfruit will put a smile on ya dial.
And if you dig a bit of a fiery flave, Ginger Lemon is your go-to.
Got a taste for a can of booch now? Go on, start your journey into the wonderful world of Remedy Kombucha.
