KICK Blackberry Origin Story

Did you know we have a flavour wheel stuck on the wall at our Melbourne fermentary? It's jam-packed with 50 different flavours we've used, dabbled in and are yet to even consider.

Blackberry is one of the flaves on this wheel we've wanted to play with for quite some time. Energy drinks of the natural and not-so-natural variety have dabbled in blackberry for yonks, so we thought, "Why not us?"

And so, KICK Blackberry was born.

Natural Caffeine, For Real

Aside from its berry-licious flavour that has tickled the fancies of Aussies and Kiwis, it's brewed with natural caffeine sources for a long-lasting caffeine kick: green coffee bean and ginseng.

Our green coffee bean extract is derived from unroasted, or "green," coffee beans. Unlike regular coffee beans, which are roasted at high temperatures to produce the distinctive flavour of coffee, green coffee beans are simply dried and then crushed or processed to create the extract. The main active ingredients in green coffee bean extract are chlorogenic acids, a family of antioxidants, and a small amount of caffeine. 

Our ginseng extract is derived from the root of the ginseng plant, a perennial plant belonging to the Panax genus. For thousands of years, the extract has been used in traditional medicine, especially in East Asia. There are several ginseng types, the most commonly used being Asian ginseng (Panax ginseng) and American ginseng (Panax quinquefolius). The beneficial health effects of ginseng extract are attributed to its bioactive components, notably ginsenosides.

These powerhouse caffeine sources combined fuel KICK, making for a longer-lasting caffeine KICK without the crash.
